Powder Biomass Pellet Binder, Packaging Type: HDPE BagBiomass pellets are categorized by their source material, like wood, agricultural residue, or industrial waste, and by their processing method, such as non-torrefied (standard) or torrefied (heat-treated). Other classifications include those made from dedicated energy crops or certain types of solid waste.
By raw material
1. Wood pellets: Made from wood chips, sawdust, and other forest residues. They are widely used for residential and industrial heating.
2. Agricultural residue pellets: Produced from crops like rice husks, corn stalks, wheat straw, and sugarcane bagasse.
3. Energy crop pellets: Made from crops grown specifically for energy, such as switchgrass and miscanthus.
4. Industrial and solid waste pellets: Created from waste materials from industries, such as paper sludge, sawdust, and certain types of municipal solid waste.
By processing method
Non-torrefied pellets: These are the standard pellets, made by grinding and compressing raw biomass.
Torrefied pellets: Processed with heat in the absence of oxygen, which gives them a higher energy density and makes them more water-resistant. This process results in a product that resembles charcoal.
